Who We Are
In July of 2014, the Daughters of Charity of the Province of the West affirmed a desire to reach out to explore ways to meet the needs of those who are underserved in the community. Sister Margaret McDonnell, DC, conducted a needs assessment in the Los Angeles area to determine a possible new ministry. The results indicated that, although many resources are available, those who are in need often experience difficulty and barriers in accessing available programs and services. It was evident that there was a need for a ministry that provides a holistic approach to navigating and securing program benefits.
In July of 2016, St. Louise Resource Services (StLRS) was established as a new ministry sponsored by Ministry Services of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, to address the difficulties and barriers people often experience in accessing available programs and services.
Since then, StLRS has functioned as a mobile ministry focused on connecting individuals and families to the health and social service resources they may be entitled to receive. StLRS reaches out to those in need, providing no-cost screenings for program eligibility, assistance with the enrollment process, advocacy throughout the application process and accompanies those who may need help accessing programs.
