It’s that time of year again, when we’re reminded of the importance of keeping our health insurance coverage up to date. Covered California is here to guide you through the renewal process and ensure that you have access to the best healthcare options. Renewals for the upcoming year have begun, and it’s essential to be aware of the steps involved.
1. Review and Update: During the renewal process, you have the opportunity to review and update your contact information and application. This ensures that your information is current and accurate, making it easier for Covered California to serve you effectively.
2. Compare Plans: Take advantage of this time to compare different health insurance plans and find the one that best suits your needs and budget. Covered California offers a range of plans, from Bronze to Platinum, all of which provide high-quality healthcare. The only difference is the payment options available, allowing you to choose what works best for you.
3. Check for Financial Help: Discover if your costs have changed, or if you qualify for financial assistance to lower your monthly premium. If you haven’t previously applied for financial help, you’ll have the option to do so during the renewal process.
4. Verify Providers: Ensure that your preferred doctors and hospitals are included in the plans you’re considering. Covered California’s Shop and Compare tool is a helpful resource for verifying provider networks.
If you have any questions or need assistance with the renewal process, don’t hesitate to contact our friendly & bilingual enrollers for free assistance at (844) 245-1900 or reach out to Covered California directly at (800) 300-1506 (TTY: [888] 889-4500).
Important Note: If you take no action to actively renew or change your plan, you will be automatically enrolled, 15 days after receiving your renewal notice in the mail, into the same plan you had the previous year. This will be done using the most recent household size and income information you provided.
Renewing with Medi-Cal:
For those enrolled in Medi-Cal, the renewal process occurs on the anniversary of your enrollment. Members of your household will receive a Medi-Cal renewal form from their local county human services agency. It’s crucial to complete this form and provide any requested information to your local agency, either by mail, fax, in-person visit, or by phone, as indicated on the renewal notice.
If you lose your Medi-Cal coverage, remember that you can enroll in health insurance coverage through Covered California during open enrollment or special enrollment due to a loss of coverage.
Taking the time to renew your health insurance is an investment in your well-being and peace of mind. Be sure to follow these steps to maintain your coverage and ensure you’re protected in the coming year. If you have any questions or need assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to us or Covered California. Your health is worth it!
